Viritails are a semi-open species consisting of many subspecies that all reside on a system of connected planets far from earth. Their traits are dependent on where they live within their system.This universe was created by PaperFen and ElliotFaux. 1. All created Viritails, being a semi-open species, must be approved by Fen or Elliot. Mostly, this is just because I want to see your creations, but also because we want to keep track of how many Viritails we have and check to make sure the traits are being followed :> Other than needing the approval, anyone is free to make a Viritail if they wish, as long as they credit us as the creators of the species! (The only exception to this is if you are making a strictly non-canon design for something like vrchat. Please abide by the traits nonetheless, but designs for fun, like turning an existing sona into a Viritail just for one drawing is permitted without needing aproval)2. Please only design your Viritails with the correct number of common, uncommon, and rare traits. Epic traits are reserved for the adopts that approved designers make. Be on the lookout, as new traits will sometimes be discovered by our scientists!3. Your Viritail's personal information, such as their name, personality, clothes, and age, is all up to you and does not need to be confirmed with Fen or Elliot (but you are very welcome to share your ideas!)4. No created Viritail is allowed to be a part of the Main Lore. That means your Viritail can not be bffs or enemies with any of Fen or Elliot's lore-telling Viritails and can not create any large plot developments that greatly impact the world. Your character can not overthrow the queen or nuke the city. However, you may tell your own stories in the background of our lore! Having your character run a coffee shop downtown is perfectly acceptable. Basically, don't make any overpowered characters. Please let us know your lore ideas (if you have any) so we can confirm that they will not heavily influence our story.5. You may NOT make any Viritail adopts to sell for profit. However, you may trade characters if you wish as long as both designers are okay with the trade. Only authorized designers are allowed to make Viritail adopts. Selling a character is ONLY allowed if you are selling it at the value of the art associated with it.6. You may NEVER use a Viritail character for harmful purposes. I do not want my designs to be associated with harmful messages.7. If you have designed a Viritail yourself or bought a Viritail from any of our designers, you may take it out of the species and turn it into another species at any time.8. Hybridizing Viritails with other species is prohibited. This goes against our lore. However, shapeshifter characters are allowed to have a Viritail form, and Viritails may hybridize with all of their breeds (Please note that Moontails can never be hybridized with Standards).9. If you have a fursona or character that looks similar to our species, don't worry! We aren't going to be upset with you for that. People always come up with similar ideas, and we love everyone's creativity! We would only be upset if you made a genuine Viritail explicitly without our knowledge and used our lore without crediting us.

LORE

Planet Hysia

The first planet in the system to evolve life was Hysia. Wild creatures of all kinds arose and fell with time. The Viritails started as small mammalian critters with prehensile tails and thumbs. What would make them so unique was their intelligence.Hysia is a planet much like our own, but with one large supercontinent and many small islands. The supercontinent shares its name with the planet, so one could refer to Hysia as either the land or the planet. It is the home planet of the Viritails. Practically every type of animal on modern earth has an equivalent here, although the Viritails have made quite a few species extinct in their ever-growing mission to conquer and control.

The Early Era

Early Viritails began to form teams to work together during hunts. Their intelligence made them more social than many other animals, and their thumbs allowed them to build rudimentary tools out of sticks and leaves. As years passed, these small Viritails evolved to be larger and to stand more upright. Their prehensile tail became a muscular weapon, with a heavy mass near the end to use as a club. Large social groups started to form, usually of one family, but sometimes, two or more families would live close to one another to interbreed. After the strongest individuals sparred with one another, these groups would choose the largest and most fit Viritail to lead them. These larger creatures would become the Royal Viritails. These individuals would look for other Royals from other tribes, which resulted in larger young leading more groups. This is where the first subspecies diverged from one another, with Royals only breeding with Royals and Standards breeding with Standards. If a Royal did ever breed with a Standard, it would eat it in an act of sexual cannibalism, a societal standard that continued into the modern era.The Viritail society continued to grow more and more complex as hundreds of thousands of years passed. They created villages, which turned into towns, which turned into cities. Factions built themselves up by tearing other groups down. Less advanced tribes of Viritails were mostly irradiated. Different cities across the planet had developed slightly different traits for their unique climates and lifestyles, such as longer or shorter fur, bulkier or slimmer bodies and tails, taller ears, and so on. However, the Royal Viritails persisted, always at the top of their societies.

Modern Government

The planet is now highly advanced, with tall, towering cities united under one government. The Royal Court consists of the Queen, who rules over the entire planet (and their exoplanets), the Advisors who rule over specific aspects of their government, and the lower-ranking Royals who govern their local cities. The current Queen is Queen Calixa. Her policies mainly focus on keeping the rich rich and the poor poorer. Decades of suffering came to a head when a Rebellion led by Knox staged a coup that killed the last Queen, Calixa's mother. Unfortunately, this only worsened the planet's situation when Calixa's bitter hatred led her to treat the Rebellion with a cruel iron fist, possibly even harsher than her mother's before her.The Advisors are a board that make decisions under the Queen.Ruling Chief: Vidia.
Tall and thin Canis Viritail. She cut her own ears to be pointed for intimidation. She is well versed in the royal family's laws. She directly oversees the Queen's Guard. She is similar to a second in command. Issues that don't require the Queen's observation or input will go to her, so that Calixa isn't bothered with every tiny issue.Lord of Justice: Thorne.
He is a tiny Canis Viritail with massive horns. Prosecutor of the law.Director of Treasury: Vesper.
A large, greedy, and fluffy Canis Viritail. A genderfluid androgynous beast. Pretty obnoxious at meetings, but does their job well.Commander of Defense: Cryra.
A tall and muscular Canis Viritail. Well practiced in almost every combat tactic and works out every day. She is usually out patrolling the exoplanets. Communicates through technology rather than actually showing up to most meetings, unless it's dire.Master of Agriculture: Thatch.
A tall Whisker Viritail with a cowboy aesthetic. He has never worked a day on a farm, but is well studied in plant biology. Though he never brings this up, as he doesn't want to be considered a NERD.Imperator of Galactic Affairs: Victor.
A stern-looking Canis Viritail. He works closely with Lysander.Sovereign of Science: Lysander.
A nerdy Whisker Viritail who now oversees Project Tersca. His ethics are morally ambiguous at best, but hes constantly adding more genetic engineering to new Moontails. Works closely with Victor.Dictator of Education: Ethel.
A rude Whisker Viritail who ironically hates children. She decides what the schools across the system need to teach. Most of the other advisors dislike her due to her nasty attitude, but she runs her department efficiently.Calixa's daughter, Minx, is the princess of the planet. She recently broke out of the castle and hijacked a Star Skipper owned by an Arctic transport pilot named Jax. The entirety of the castle's pilots are out searching the star systems for the rogue princess. In addition, the Rebellion is trying to assassinate her to end the current royal bloodline.The Viritails' technology has allowed them to conquer other planets in their system, namely Colossus, a large, cold planet that harbors mostly aquatic life deep under its icy surface. This planet is used as a scrap yard and factory for spaceships. It was one of the first exoplanets to be colonized, so after being isolated for thousands of years, the local Viritails who live there have also evolved into their subspecies: Arctic Viritails and their pigmy variation.

The Capital City: Emperia

The Capital city is either known simply as the Capital or by its true name of Emperia. The city has a futuristic style to it, with a large castle sitting right in the middle of the biggest district. It is split into 3 districts. The innermost ring is called the Haven. It has the tallest buildings and large lush parks and gardens. Video displays are on almost every building, always showing advertisements to the rich folk who live there. This is where the elite live. All of the doorways are much taller and wider to accommodate taller Viritails and larger horns. The sky is kept clear of the smog by large turbines located within the castle's architecture. The middle ring is called the Bolt. The term refers to how it keeps the city together and operating. The buildings here are shorter. This ring contains much of the industry that keeps the city operational. The outer ring is referred to as the Horror. Few of the underground rails stop in this zone, they just move on through to get out of the city entirely. The horror is filled with crime, rebels, and the poor. This is where really dirty industries are located. If you want something made cheaply, it’ll be made here.

Orienta

Orienta is the sister town to Emperia. Considered a city only by population. A generally middle class town where whisker and canis viritails live. It's a large, wide, and spread out town. Also has a futuristic look, but feels more homey and slow than the fast life in the capital city. Has zoos, national parks, sporting areas, outdoor strip malls, and family housing. Has a lot of opportunities despite being slower paced.

✩Getting Started✩

So you want to make a Viritail? Great! I'm so happy to have you here!Viritails are a semi-open species, meaning you don't need to purchase anything to start making your designs. But remember to always get your designs approved!Below is a checklist to help streamline the design process.

✩Choose your Breed or Subspecies✩

The first question for the design journey: What kind of Viritail do you want to make? Remember to check the lore for each type of Viritail because your future character must align with it!Whether you choose based on aesthetics or based on lore and storytelling, it’s important to note that Standard Viritails have less controlled traits but far fewer design choices. If you want a wild and wacky-looking creature, Moontails are the way to go, but you’ll be in for more reading!

✩Start with the Body✩

You don’t have to add all the unique traits right away. Start simple and draw out what you want your character’s body to look like. All Viritails must have a thick tail base that thins out and gets wider again at its tip. Remember, they use this tail like a club, so it's a thick and powerful weapon.FOR STANDARD VIRITAILS: Remember that height is very important in their society and is one of the controlled traits! You must choose a height for your design and have it listed. If you don't, your character will be assumed to be the default height.FOR MOONTAILS: Look through the trait list and see what body type you want to choose. The traits to pay attention to for now are the Snout, Arms, Legs, Torso, and Tail. Remember you can only choose a certain number of traits from each category!

✩Start Adding Traits✩

This is where the fun begins. ;)FOR STANDARD VIRITAILS: This is just a matter of adding horns and hair. Pay attention to the Traits of Interest section of your chosen Viritail breed, for you MUST add them to your character(if you have decided to make a hybrid of two breeds, mix and mash the traits of interest together).FOR MOONTAILS: Look through the rest of the traits lists and pick out whatever suits your fancy! Go wild with it!

✩Add Colour and Details✩

Colour in your beautiful creation, and add some extra bits like hair, clothes, jewelry, etc.FOR STANDARD VIRITAILS: Remember that standard Viritails have cheek markings and/or stripes on their tails. They also ALWAYS grow manes and are only seen without one if they choose to cut it.FOR MOONTAILS: There are no specific colourations that Moontails have; it's entirely up to you! However, the ones on the moon usually don’t wear clothes. At the very least, they could wear rudimentary clothing. Jewelry is common, and I recommend adding scars because of their harsh environment. If your moontail is a solider, then their clothes would look much more modern!

Moontails have abilities linked to their antenna, but these aren’t visible, so you’ll need to write them down! If your Moontail is venomous, you'll also want to write that down. This is a Rare Trait.

Likes: Sour food, being disobedient, fighting, and small fuzzy animals.Dislikes: Her mother, politics, bodies of water, being told how to behave, and responsibility.

Background

Minx is a Royal Viritail from a distant planet to Earth. She is the princess on her planet, but she is uninterested in that role. Minx has problems being empathetic towards others because she was isolated and neglected for her whole childhood by her mother. She doesn't understand how to make friends, or that what she says can hurt people. But she is learning how to be nice now that she has crash-landed on Earth.
